If for example your car,van or bike mot is valid till 10th June 2018 and you took it for an mot before 20th may but within 30 days before expiry date as you are entitled to do to preserve "anniversary" date, - which set of rules would it be tested to - the present rules or new rules?
Under Current rules you can drive away from MOT station with your old MOT still valid.
Once it's
FAILED is does not mean you can continue to use vehicle a normal as if it never failed & it's still got a few weeks old MOT left.
A vehicle that had FAILED MOT will be recorded as
FAILED, There for it will be red flagged on ANPR has having
NO MOT.
You can get stopped & simply wave OLD MOT in front of the copper. Who will be quick to say...
"Vehicle still needs to meet the minimum standards of road worthiness to be able to legally drive it on the road"
"You are knowingly driving an UNROADWORHTY / DANGEROUS vehicle on the road" & then they will prohibit vehicle from being use on the road. You will end up with a fine & penalty points on licence
With new rules. They have made it clear.
Once vehicle has
FAILED MOT, any previous MOT left will be
VOID. This means vehicle will have
NO VALID MOT
