Head lights stay on.

Postby Trev the Rev » Fri Jan 12, 2018 7:20 am

Hello all!

I have an 08 Transit and the headlights stay on when the switch is in the off position, to turn them off when diving I have to put the side lights on.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi, I have the very same issue. Did you ever manage to find out what was causing it and how to fix?

You can’t fix something that’s not broken, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=203780

In some countries, yes. If we don’t get all the relevant info, we can’t give the best answers. He probably won’t be back though, so it doesn’t matter.

Hello all, Thank you for the replies. I am here :D Glad that even though its an old post you have all taken the time to take an interest and help.

I knew the van had day time running lights but thought it would only be the side lights that should be on. Tried to research it but as there are so many variants its difficult to get a good idea of what's right.

The van is a SWB transit 280 trend on a 2014 plate.

Auto head lights hence why I thought there might be an issue when they stay on all the time regardless of the switch position apart from if you select side lights ( that's the only time the head lights go off) The dash lights come on in the dark and go out during the day so I had ruled out the sensor being the issue but suspected a faulty relay as a couple times when the lights as set to auto the head lights started to flash :? Maybe an intermittent fault hidden in there?

Thanks again, Darren

Is this a late registered Mk7, or is it a Custom :?:

Oh yeah I just realised I've seen a MK7 on a 63 plate! Could that have been a 2014 then?

It’ll be a euro5 MK7, the Custom had marginally better drl’s that didn’t use the dip beam and side lights.

Not at all, we all need a good sense of humour 8)

To clarify, its a mk7 2014 0n a 14 plate. Must be one of the very last :?:

Side note, who the hell decided it was a good idea to have to take the hub off to change the discs? Need to raid the garage for a big socket in the morning, make the most of lockdown.

I hope your all having a good evening and staying safe
