Hi,
Trying to remedy some rust above the windscreen on my Mk7, which appears to be a fairly common problem - does anyone know if this is generally caused by stone chips or whether it's rusting due to condensation collecting inside, running down the roof and getting trapped above the windscreen?
I used to have a vw baywindow panel van where the gutters were rotten terribly (inside out) and it was pretty obvious this was caused by condensation running down the curved roof into a deep vee groove between the outerskin and an internal structural box section. I filled it waxoyl & bitumen mix on a hot day but really the damage was done!
Does anyone (someone who's had the headlining off) know if the transit has a similar internal rust trap above the windscreen?
