thermostat or something else

Postby ned » Mon Jan 15, 2018 8:40 pm

After reading richgolds post t'other day about old car heating it got me thinking, now my temp gauge on my van never goes about 1/4 but for the last few week it doesn't get above cold,
WP_20180115_15_37_13_Pro.jpg

even after 30-60 minutes driving the water temp is only 50 degrees or less, surely that's not right, sometimes the heating in the cab gets hot but mostly luke warm, so if it is the thermostat then where does it live :D many thanks. N

My mk6 always sat bang on half way on the temp gauge.

Summer or winter, traffic or motorway always on half :D

I like to live life on the edge :D anyway there's plenty of fuel in there

My temp gauge used to sit at 1/4 not anymore :( I even have to close the window now and the cab still doesn't get warm. N

If that's the case, maybe your thermostat is indeed fugged...once warmed up mine sits at 1/2 summer or winter...

My gran had one of those heaters, the entire house used to smell of the burn gas, oh the good ol' days :P

I'll pop the thermostat out at weekend if I can find it, the van has a few miles on it so I wonder if its screwed or just stuck open, even the oil isn't getting very warm, think the oil was at 45 degrees today as well as the water, it seems I fix one problem and 3 more appear  bloody ford. N
