Steering wheel shaking

Postby daireannmcgee » Thu Jan 18, 2018 11:32 pm

Hi everyone, I have a MK7 2013 FWD 6 Speed 125/300 Transit. There is a fairly strong vibration/shake in the steering. It's definitely not the driveshafts and I've had the wheels balanced as well. Any suggestions?

Better details would help.

Does it happen when the van is moving.
Does it only happen when you turn the steering wheel.
Is it affected be van speed.
Is it affected by engine speed.

mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

It happens only when the van is moving and is more noticeable when driving in a straight line. It's not affected by van speed or engine speed. Ive put the van in neutral while driving and it still shakes. Brakes and Tyres are ok as well. We had it up on a lift last week, drove it with the wheels off the ground and the steering still shook.

They are both brand new. One was faulty and replaced a few months ago. The other was replaced before Christmas to see if it cured this problem but unfortunately not. They weren't as expensive as that though, the near side one was around €180, the other was a bit more but I can't remember exactly!
