Ford transit mk6 2.4 clutch problem

Postby jamiehodges1 » Sun Jan 21, 2018 5:48 pm

Having problems getting into gear. I've checked for leaks on the slave and master cylinder also no fluid loss. If I switch engine off I can get it into gear and start it up with foot to floor. If I am able to get intongear the bite point is very low to the floor and the vehicle does creep forward. I had the clutch changed about a year ago. I am worried about the damage I may do forcing it into gear. Any ideas guys

Hi,

The slave cyclinder on these are made out of plastic they tend to go. Remove it and inspect. They’re twisted type. If I do remember correctly you push down. I’ve done 280k on mine and changed twice. Mine failed not long after a clutch was replaced.

Cheers

Yes that's still on it and it's bone dry. No fluid leaks in the system....the only thing I think it could be is the fork inside with the bearing

May be try to remove the slave cylinder. Get someone to press on the clutch pedal gently and see if there is any movement. That way u can Eliminate it’s a slave cyclinder problem. Is your clutch still dual or single mass fly wheel?

No its converted to solid now. When I engage the clutch the pedal feels fine just feels like the slave is not push the fork far enough to engage the pressure plate. Not losing any fluid. It's does go into gear while driving but I really have to use a lot of effort for 1st and 2nd

When u had your clutch replaced. Which clutch fork did you use? The original or the one that came with the kit.

The One that come with new kit. It's only been like this for a month now. I think the gearbox is gonna have to come off and just replace it with another kit

Unfortunately it seems that way. My last shifting problem was due a faulty pressure plate. The centre was pretty worn and my slave was on its way out. Valeo is a pretty good kit. HOW many kms have you done since you had it replaced?

Good luck.

I've done about 20000 miles just taken the gearbox out and it look the the thrust bearing had fallen apart. The rubber on the inside was a bit chewed and the part that is contact with pressure plate fell off when I pulled the gearbox out....should I replace the fork when doing the the bearing as I'm gonna leave the clutch alone
