My Ignition Key Socket Faulty ?

Postby Marauder » Mon Jan 22, 2018 4:19 pm

2.2 2008 SWB. Lately I can jump out of Van press the Blue Button and nothing ! Doors don't lock. Put blue key back into steering wheel Ign Socket wiggle the Key jump out and now it locks ok... My Question, Having read a few posts on here I think its a problem with that lower part of the ign switch. Can some explain or show me the way to a diagram on how to remove the original ignition switch in order for me to gain access to the lower switch thing that the key turns. I see they don't cost much, Its just the fitting of the thing > was thinking of T/P for a replacement. But what the part called. Thanks Guys
Ford Transit 280 SWB,,Year 2008,,2.2,, If it can,t be fixed/repaired/ with a 4 pound lump hammer then it must be an electrical problem.

It's called an ignition switch, as opposed to the barrel, which is the end where you put the key. The swich is removed by taking off the cowling and disconnecting the switch from the barrel by removing the screw. You don't need to disturb the barrel at all.
The switch unplugs from the loom just under the steering column :)

Thanks for the reply. I will order a switch then from EBay and give it a go. Mind you I'm bound to get something wrong.LOL.Its a 2008, Got 110,ooo miles on the Van I've had it about 5 years. I bought a replacement Oil sump as the original has gone porous which is being swoped over at the Garage, So will look at that ignition switch when i get van back later on today.
