water in the sump LOTS

Hi all new to this forum so not sure if ive posted in the right section
I have a 2.4 duratorq durashift.I have had a leaking water pump for some time, and have just been topping up with water and not antifreeze (i know really stupid ) but its been mild and ive been meaning to do it.Anyway we had 1 cold night -9 and the motor froze, i let it thaw and topped up with antifreeze whilst the van was running,it took TWENTY liters and still the header tank was empty looked around for leaks found none except for the slight drip from the water pump, then checked oil level and found where the water had gone !in the sump looked at the back of the van and it was like a cloud making machine !.So my question is.... could it be the water pump that was on its way out and the freeze finished it off, letting oil and water mix ? could it be the oilcooler (the header tank isnt filling with oil )or is it the head gasket? ive taken the rocker box cover off and checked to see if there was a core plug in the head but couldnt find one .the van starts easily enough but obviously is unusable. please help many thanks julian

There is just the 3 core plugs in the head isnt there ?

if the core plugs are ok...Oil cooler split maybe..??
