central locking problem help please

Postby Mankeydeath39 » Sun Feb 18, 2018 5:14 pm

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum and have a 2008 lwb 2.4 tdci van, I have a problem with my central locking it blows the fuse every time I try to lock it! If I disconnect the rear door and replace the fuse the locks will lock then open again but when I reconnect the back door and lock it the fuse blows any ideas what's going on, I've checked the wiring loom and no broken cables, really want to get the locking working again, can I use a volt metre to test if so how? Thanks in advance guys
:D

have you checked the wiring loom for short circuits?
Its the most common cause of central locking problems on mk7

Check the loom between the rear door and the rest of the van.
They are well know for failing inside the tubes that carry the wires into the door.

Probably, the van knows the rear door does not lock when it is connected which is why it unlocks when you connect the actuator.
Can't look up the wiring at the moment, can send you the pin functions on the lock unit this evening.

That would be helpful v8dave,
Been and checked loom again still no breaks but also noticed side door doesn't lock as well.
Have found a random red wire which isn't connected at one end and traced it to a relay under the dash, so confusing
