no lights and radio while ignition switch is in position 1

Postby Cruiser88 » Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:48 am

Hi, I have a Ford Transit 2.2 litre diesel of 2008.
I changed the battery last week and since then the interior lights cannot be swithed on anymore while ignition switch is in position 0 or 1. With the ignition switch in position 2 everything functions normal, and also with the motor running nothing is unusual. The radio also only functions with the ignition switch in position 2. When the ignition switch is put to position 1 or 0 the radio is directly switched off and all pre-settings are lost.
What could be the cause of this?

Might be coincidental ...but maybe the ignition switch has died....pretty common.

You can't really, just replace it, they're cheap and easy to do....and it'll rule it out of the equation...~12 sheckles.

I found the solution. The fuse in the wire to the second battery was blown. There are two fuses in that connection, one in the starters battery box (which was ok) and one close to the second battery in the rear of my camper. This one I could not find at first. When changing the starters battery I must have hit the contact point of that wire. Thanks for the reactions.
