Where to buy a reconditioned engine?

Postby Jamesrtoneil » Wed Feb 21, 2018 7:49 am

Hey there,

Does anyone know the best place to buy a reconditioned engine.
I'm looking for one for a mk7 rwd 6speed 2.4 tdci 115. (Full details in my signature)

I suspect mine has currently given its last rev and am now looking for a low-mid mileage reconditioned one to replace it.

Any advice would be great!
Cheers,
James

Brilliant. It will be about a fortnight before I'll need it, so just scouting possibilities at the mo.

Do you have a direct e-mail I can contact you on for further details etc?

Cheers

Try one of the web links in Karl's signature :-)
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

I bought one last year from this place, they do various transit engines, I looked at their product, spoke to them on the phone and liked what I was hearing.
A local garage ( friends of mine ) fitted it for me and said they were really pleased with it as well.
It ran really well.
Mine was a 2.2 FWD unit but he did say at the time they could do other variations.
May be worth a look.
Mine had covered 230000 miles and it was a top end failure with camshafts etc. We costed up part costs and labour and decided to go down the route of a complete engine instead.
I did have to pay the surcharge but when I told them the damage they said they would need to stop £100 back from the surcharge, as they told me this up front I was happy with going along with this, instead of getting a nasty shock afterwards on their collection of the old engine, they collected it a couple of weeks after we had fitted the reconditioned unit.

Worth a phone call maybe for you ?

Since then I have actually got another van as well and my current van is a 2.4 RWD.
