Did someone try to steal my van?

Postby rimotu66 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 8:46 pm

Popped into Aldi's tonight in Louth on the way home from work, when I came out I noticed my n/s repeater was hanging out on its wires, the locking tab was cleanly broken. The only place it has been parked within the last few days is my driveway over night, work (private carpark with security) and Aldi.

A month ago the Lincolnshire police alert text messaging system sent a couple of messages reporting Transit vans (they where mk7's) had been stolen only to be found with engines missing, this was in South Lincolnshire Boston area.

I have reported it to the Police and got a crime number for interference with vehicle, the policeman wasnt aware of the side repeater/immobiliser bypass trick.

There are a whole new clutch of "travelling folk" have taken up residence in the new park-n-ride near Bicester village, which is about 2 miles from me

I feel the need to start boxing in the van with the other cars on the drive, at least for a while

A few years ago a troupe of them set up camp beside a neighbour whom I shall say was more than a bit eccentric as he was going home for lunch. He stopped with them and told them to scarper or he will be back. They were still there when he came back after lunch and he took a watering can full of petrol out of the back of the van walked around the caravan pouring it out and produced a Zippo  YOUR NOT GOING TO BURN US OUT BOSS :?: You have 2 seconds  Never came back

The snowflakes on local social media seem to think it's OK as "they need to stop somewhere!" but some of us are "loading the shotguns" as we speak  :P

We have a few fixed sites near us (I have also worked for a few of their families who have houses) so they move any of the travelling verity on very quickly :D they must know if the travelling folk cause trouble it'll come back on them. N

You would think that they would learn not to upset the natives, who would then not be so keen to get them moved on, but the pictures of the wreckage of their last venue make a sad sight, including abandoned dogs!

I'm not so much worried about the van, as that's insured, but it's loaded with stuff that isn't. Theft from vans around here has reached epidemic proportions, and mine has been attempted at least once before :(
