Question regarding engine swap

Postby dannysconnect » Sat Feb 24, 2018 11:25 am

Hi guys

Not been on here for a while

Long story short

My brother has a 55 plate 2.0 tdci transit

His engine died so I swapped it with another

The engine I swapped it with was from a mondeo MK3 ( I didn't realise this until removing the injectors to find that they were the shorter nozzle injectors)

My question is, does the mondeo mk3 2 litre tdci engine with the shorter injectors work in a transit van? I.e. Is the ECU and injection driver set up to work the same for transit and mondeo engines seeing as they injectors are different sizes?

Yes, it will work ok. You must only encode new injectors into old, genuine Transit PCM. Injectors are very similar with the same construction inside (Transit 2,0 tdci/Mondeo 2,0 tdci after lift 06.2003), in Mondeo they have shorter sprayer or inside are different reducing pipes in initial chamber, steering chamber etc... This differences are coded in 16 alphanumeric characters number, written on injector.
