Mk7 heated windscreen issue

Postby Popeye1981 » Sat Feb 24, 2018 6:22 pm

My vans windscreen only works on one half, unfortunately the passenger side. I've swapped the relays and no joy. I've checked the two connections on the screen and clean and solid looking. The wiring then seems to go straight into engine bay but may be mistaken. Is there any other obvious issues I can check. Or where else to look at connections? Is there and fuses for them? If anyone has had same issue and resolved it be great for any pointers.

You have 2 positives and 2 negatives in the Windscreen pillars, remove the plastic bits to reveal the wires.

Use a multimeter on both sides top and bottom and with the screen turned on you should see 12v. If there is 12v top and bottom left and top and bottom right then the screen is fubar.

If there is no 12v left or right side (screen side working obviously has power so the not working side has no 12v then you need to check the bottom cable to ground for continuity and or the top and a chassis ground elsewhere for 12v.)

The fuses are at the back of the drivers seat you need to remove the black plastic cover to reveal the seat fusebox. Fuses 4 and 6 are for left and right screen @40A

Mate thanks very much I'll get the multi meter out tomorrow and go down that route then just try and find the ground.
