Mk6 help Worcester area?

Postby Anthony24 » Sun Feb 25, 2018 2:14 pm

Hi I have a Mk6 which Iv not had running now for nearly 12 months, had been diagnosed with pump issue so pump has been replaced with a recon virginised unit. The swap was done by a friend of a friend who has then been unable to get van running.

It’s a RWD pickup if that makes any difference

Iv read quite a bit on here re priming it up but I’m not the best at this sort of thing, Is there anyone local that would mind coming to take a look I would of course cover your costs,

I haven’t got a vehicle big enough to get it to a garage and it’s currently off road not taxed etc which I don’t want to sort until it’s running.

Iv been back to van today. Bit more information as I really need some help / advice It’s a 2000 2.4 TDDi

Have tried cranking for ages still nothing, have cracked off the injector pipe closest to rad there was a very small amount of diesel there, this was dry before.

Not sure weather something could have gone when the new pump was fitted, I believe the procedure is simply allow
The van to learn the pump 30 seconds? Is it possible to do something wrong and lock the pump out?
where am I looking for an immobiliser light?

The only light that comes on I believe to be a brake warning light.

The van runs with easy start sprayed in the inlet

Iv probably cranked it now for 2 hours or more ( not continuously obviously

Van has never had an ignitio (battery) light illuminate as far as I can remember in my ownership don’t know if this is a clue?

Did you get the new pump coded to the van? The van won't start unless the pump has been coded into the ECU.

Good afternoon thanks for the replies

No reason to believe pump was not virginised came from a guy who I believe called himself diesel uk on eBay and had decent feedback, pump has come with some paper work from a Bosch test centre I believe in Poland. Also a 1 year warranty.

Can someone confirm the correct procedure for “coding in” a virginised pump

It's something like turn the ign on but don't start it and leave it on for a few mins then turn it off before you try to start it

If it is the case that the pump hasn't been programmed to the PCM then the PATS LED should be flashing.

I've not done it myself so don't take this as certain but I thought it was a Ford IDS / ForScan job to program the pump to the PCM.
