Re: MK6 Repair After Crash

Okay just had a go filled up the fuel filter and cranked 3 times. still nothing. My filter does have a plunger on top to prime/bleed, theres a yellow nipple just underneath which I presume is used for bleeding? Is there something I need to do so that air/fuel starts coming out of the nipple or is it for something else?

Thanks

The yellow bit on the bottom of the filter is the drain plug, have you cracked the injectors open when cranking to allow the air out? N

I was talking about the yellow bit just underneath the plunger not the bit on the bottom. I've already done this a couple of time but not since refilling the filter. Will give it a go tomorrow when I can get a friend to crank while I crack

That's just the filter "condition indicator", basically it just tells you if the filter is blocked or not..! Should have a little green and red section in it..! The little "plunger" button just resets it after a filter change.

Push in the release tang and pull the left hand front pipe off,get something to catch the fuel in,pump the hand primer on the top till you have constant fuel, push the pipe back on and then the primer should go 'solid' when pumped.
Crack all pipes on top of injectors, pump the hand primer while someone cranks it.

(The yellow connection is for bleeding, but we never used to use it,even when these filter heads were 'current')

Oh,and make sure battery is spot on,or get a charger / jump leads on,it won't deliver fuel if voltage drops below 11 when cranking.

Thanks guys just have this a go but still no luck. Plunger went stiffer but not solid does this indicate a problem? When I cracked the injector it didn’t seem to be very high pressure does the mean the pumps gone? If so is there anyway I can double check this?

Just brought a new fuel filter to rule that out but no joy. Did notice fuel jumping out of the injectors this time though so think it’s safe to say fuel pump is okay

Was it air stopping it starting? Did you leave it running for 10 mins or so to purge any air out, glad you finally got it running, took me 5 weeks to get my van going after I changed all the injectors. N

Was either air or dodgy fuel filter, maybe a combination of both. Haha I can imagine never had so Michigan trouble bleeding something
