You "should" be able to do it with "Forscan" and a suitable ELM327 unit....cheap as chips. Forscan is Free to download too.

I have a couple of those cheap ELM327 type units but from reading various threads on this forum I thought only the VCMII interface could do programming. Anyway, I ordered one a week ago and am waiting for it to arrive. I might need a bit of a tutorial on how to do it with Forscan.

The VCM-II won't work with Forscan...it will only work with IDS...sometimes, and only then if you're extremely lucky to get one which actually works. Did you order the SP-177-C1 unit..??

I've used an ELM327 with Forscan and they do indeed do module programming, key programming, speed limiter etc, it also does all the normal pump and injector learns etc...

This one does the job nicely..

Thanks for the eBay link. The devices I have are the bluetooth code reading devices.

This is the VDS unit I ordered. I should've asked the question on this forum before ordering it. Could've saved the money.

You can get the "Modified" ELM327 which can do WiFi and/or Bluetooth but I find them a bit "flakey"....a proper USB cable connection is always better IMHO.

That VCM unit will possibly work for doing the basics but when it comes to module programming you may struggle a bit. We've had mixed luck with even the best of the "cloned" units.

Forscan can be had here:

A little light reading for you:

Knobby, what do think about this option suggested by grogan? Is it worth a try before I buy another BCM?

Certainly is worth a go mate, nothing to loose to try anyway.... he's no idiot. If it works great... if not, you'll just need to battle on.

please let me know I just ordered the elm327. I put a relay in between one off the two + wires to the bcm, so the only problem I have is that when the engine runs idle and the air-compressor starts the alarm lights come on (I have full airsuspension and air brakes on trailer

Can you clarify what you mean?

There won't be a minus- at the bcm it'll be a chassis ground I'm sure but remind me what you are looking at and I'll look

I'm going to guess that you mean the actual main power connector on the bcm yes? It's simple if that is correct Lol.

Bcm.

Power ground 1 is c2 pin 29
Power ground 2 is c2 pin 32
Ground is c2 pin 3
All coloured black/yellow.

The ground loops are located at gp13 A and B
They should be in bemm which can be downloaded from Ford etis but it is currently down at the moment :-(
