Mk7 Revs lingering in reverse gear

Postby BabyDontYurtMe » Thu Mar 08, 2018 8:59 am

Hi everyone, my Mk7 T100 2.4l RWD has an odd problem when in reverse - after coming off the accelerator the revs linger for ages after. Its as if the van thinks I have my foot on the accelerator for way longer than I actually have.
I filmed it in first gear, neutral and reverse below.
Has anyone seen this before? I had a scour through these forums and only found one thread that thought it could be a gearbox speed sensor. I will get this checked as soon as the van is on the road.
Does anyone else know of any other faults I can check for?

No idea Lol.

I would be looking at pto in the software to see if it is set to something. Needs ids.

Or feedback from something maybe unplug both rear lights connectors, check tow socket for water or corrosion if fitted.

Really am just guessing though at this point. You could have a faulty throttle pedal etc but as it only does it in reverse it does suggest a limited number of possibilities.

Interestingly it is acting like a kind of hill launch assist maybe for trailers in reverse hence me suggesting it may be pto enabled otherwise i don't know.

Cheers for the advice. Ill get ids on it to see if there is something funky in there.

A funny earth running through the reverse switch and confusing the switches at clutch & brake pedals maybe..??

I don't think the Mk7 has a speed sensor on the gearbox...they use the ABS sensors for speed readings.
