There's two brake lights on the mk7 dash, one for abs fault and one to indicate brake pad wear. Do you know which one it is?

Check the wires around the rear axle, mine have broken twice in that area

Yep its broken sensor wires, common problem.

Either track down the broken wire or ... there something can be done to the clocks to turn it off permanently IIRC?

Pin 15 and pin 18 on the speedo connector will permanently legally remove the pad wear warning indicator :-)

Easiest? Cigarette lighter to melt the sheaths then twist the wires together then insulation tape

Many thanks... all it took was for four screws to be removed, then lift off the compartment tray. Unhook the connector from the back of the clocks and cut and link the cable to the earth.. a quick solder joint and bobs your dads brother... NO LIGHT
