Coolant leak above gearbox (rwd)

Hi,
I've got a 2007 mk7 2.4 that it tipping coolant out above the gearbox. By my reckoning it must be the egr cooler. Is there anything else in the area that could cause a leak?

Also, if I were to bypass the egr cooler what are the risks? Will it just shorten the life of the egr valve?

Could be the egr cooler, egr cooler pipes, or pipes to the heater matrix depending what side of the gearbox its leaking on

It seems to be on the top of the box but more towards the o/s.

how would I check the heater matrix? Inside the van i can't detect any leak near the floor. where the pipes go into the bulkhead there is no leak.

this one doesnt have the pipe through the egr valve, and its higher up/further across than that anyway.

The mk6 rwd has a couple of pipes that run round the back of the head/block over the box buggers to get too
Mk7? Might have them
Might not have then
