63 plate T350 clutch issues

Postby Hustler2218 » Fri Mar 23, 2018 11:23 pm

Hi all,

I've just purchased this Transit and although I love it, the clutch seems strange....
When changing one 2nd, 3rd and partially 4th, I engage the clutch pedal there's a fair amount of vibrate and a distinctive faint noise that sounds a echoe-ish. It's easier from 4th, 5th to 6th. No issues on the way down the gears and no issue when the clutch pedal is engaged in neutral.
Is this just a standard transit thing or should I act whilst its still under a very slight buyers warranty?

Thank you in advance

The clutch and gearbox should be perfectly smooth like a car.

The hear synchros start to slip when the oil is old/contaminated or high milage.

The selector feels sloppy on high milers

Whine can be heard in certain gears too.

The clutch would feel quiet and smooth to press.

Old thrust hearing (csc) starts to whine when pressing the clutch.

Very high or very low bite is a problem.

It is normal at the lights for the pedal to slowly drop a little.

Vibrations etc can point to a failing dmf.

Basically apart from normal age related wear and tear (a bit less than perfect and tight feeling) anything less or doesn't feel right is wrong and Ford will probably want 1000 Pym's for a clutch fitted at a guess.

In the words of Negan, warranty the sh*t out of it
Unless it has done 300k then I think despite warranty you may get the bird :-(
