Hi

The coil is flashing, it’s starting to have trouble starting (odd sentence ) , black smoke when exclerating, poor throttle response.

Diesel mechanic who fitted pump thinks it could be the ecu .

Any thoughts ?

Is it a front wheel drive ?

If it is then it's probably a wiring loom issue, where the loom goes past the starter motor.

That said P1664 could be your fuel pump electronics failing.

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Take it some one whom knows what hes doing. Your Diesel Mechanic is a wanabe mech

P0409 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor "A" Circuit
- Can result in MIL flashing (Glow plug light on Transit mk6's)

P1563 Injection Pump Control Module Requesting Engine Stop
P1664 Injection Pump Control Module Malfunction
Is for a Failing/Failed fuel pump :!: - These 2 DTC's should have been cleared when replacment pump was fitted

A wiring fault to fuel pump often results in DTC

I fitted a pump a few months ago that was supplied to my customer by PF Jones. It was faulty and although it started, there was a big diesel knock... so there’s always a chance it’s faulty

I know , annoyingly that’s why the wife wants to get rid of the van.

I’ve taken it to a garage , they think the egr valve is the first place to look and then Check the wiring .

I used some egr cleaner today and it nearly has cleared all the black soot . The van is running like a beast . Although slight rattle on start up .

On the pump you fitted , where there any issues other than the pump ? Anything leading it to fail ?

Also did the fault codes come back ? My fault codes have gone now .

Thanks for replying

Hi ,

Bloody van , back smoke all day and crazy rattling noise when accelerating. Once it gets through it it drives fine .

P0404 codes is up 3 times in a row.

Not safe to drive absolute nightmare

There’s n9 sound on that video.
Tbh I could have said that a new egr was a waste of time and money, a simple blanking plate would rule an6 mechanical faults out. Then as Paul said already, wiring faults will flash the mil light.
I’d be reasonably confident the supplied pump you have is faulty.
My one came in not running and once the new pump was fitted it was spitting out pump timing codes.

Hi , I’ve no ide why sound isn’t g working . Egr change Has been done, and your right does feel like a waste of time .
However I could drive it , I took it for a 60 mile drive to try and burn out the black smoke. Which has sort of worked .
But I’ll be phoning garage again , as they said there was no sign of black smoke . And this is how it drove 2 mins after collecting van
https://youtu.be/Li2C_QlG0yg
It doesn’t feel as response as my first pump change , for the 3 months of my first pump change ( from eBay ) the van drove like a beast , more responsive than my new transit Work van:

2.0 TDDI 100ps.

Has vac solenoid for EGR valve been checked/replaced :?:

It bolted to inlet manifold.

Disconnect vac to to EGR valve & see if any improvement.
