replacing injector pump, do I need to configure to the PCM?

Postby conrod » Mon Apr 16, 2018 11:47 am

Thought I better start a new thread for this.....

I received my new/rebuilt Bosch injector pump from PF Jones UK for my Mk6 90PS TDDi, and started fitting it today. The instructions state:

"If a new fuel injection pump is to be installed, it must be configured to the powertrain control module (PCM) us WDS before the engine can be started."

How do I configure this? Do I actually need to? I have access to a good scan tool, will this be suitable to perform this job, or do I have to trailer it to a Ford dealer to have the job done?

The pump is a real PITA to install, given I have big hands, and the bolts for the support bracket are fairly inaccessible, end of the fingertips stuff! :?

If it's been rebuilt then it should have been "Virginised" If it has then there's a routine whereby it learns itself to the Ecu simply by turning on the ignition. It's on here somewhere.

Have a search on here Conrad, before you do anything. There's a fixed routine you have to follow, otherwise it doesn't happen, and you need IDS to pair up the pump.

I take it you left the key turned on in position 2 for 1 minute BEFORE trying to start it, as this allows the pump to re code itself to the ECU / Key. If not its now goiing to need coding in on a computer :?

My second pump is from pfjones , you should be able to get cash back for your old one .
Definitely make sure battery is fully charged , Let it run for a few mins and it codes itself . But don’t forget to clear the codes.

I didn’t fit mine but had a look every now and then

Good luck
