Postby Thequeenscheese » Sat Apr 21, 2018 1:51 pm

Has anyone fitted a button to lock / unlock the rear doors on a mk7?

Yes. You need a 5pole relay to switch the circuit to open otherwise you'll blow fuses.
Would recommend having it only activating with ignition on.
Only thing to consider is if you unlock the door using this method it stays open and won't auto relock when you start driving again unless the front doors are unlocked too

The switch / button could be hidden or none discript, mine don't appear to auto lock anyway (they obv lock with the lock button) is there a way to integrate a button switch and keep the lock/unlock on the key also or at least lock?

The locks work by switching the power direction for lock and unlock.
Circuit in idle state all connections are to earth. You need to fit a switching relay to interrupt the unlock side and give it momentary power to trigger the unlock.
Of you use a bush button or momentary switch that is only on when you press it and off when not pressed. That way circuit will work as normal when locking.

Probably some effort involved but y ah that sounds right, at least it's not strictly driven by the ecu/bcm..
