Mk7 key coding

Postby Thequeenscheese » Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:55 pm

Considering I've managed to cock one of my fobs up ( repairing my flip key conversion I managed to get superglue on 2 of the buttons on the pcb :? Doh) anyway if I buy another new key can it be coded with 2 working fobs or is it Ids only? (My pcb still works but 2 of the buttons are destroyed enough not to work in a housing ) ..

Cheers

Thought so, I have seen some switches on eBay for about £10 with new blue case and battery prob opt for that tbh they should be easy enough to solder in.., all this because no one seems to make an official mk7 flip housing I know I'm banging on about it in a few threads but I really don't get why there isn't one about odd how some vehicles get overlooked for them and I've copped for 2 of them lol my old navara didn't but luckily the almera of the same era was an easy mid to get to fit, and then there's the transit ffs ha the earlier fiesta one is almost an easy mod, I had it working but then part of the mod failed and I was trying to do a better job using glue and cocked the switches up tut, I'm almost tempted to get a prototype cnc'd or printed off dos there has to be a market for them with so many mk7s about, plus some of the cars must be the same key surely..

I got a key kit with batt case and buttons.
Unfortunately one of the buttons stoped working within about 48hrs.
You can get them other places like RS components or maybe maplin if you ca find one that's still got them.

And as a footnote I don't use an elm327 as the interface I use a pass-through device it does not need the can switch and will see all the modules at one time automatically picking which one it needs ,if you have an els327 or a mongoose or even a good vcm2 they will work first time every time

Slight off topic here..
Can a modified elm327 be used to code in a remapped ecu? (Mk6 , 2.4 , 90PS)
Old man had his camper remapped by vantuner then the fuel pump went a few months after (doh)
Changed the complete engine ect (kept the ecu)
He was asking if the "go go ecu" could be matched to the current engine.
It made a massive difference :D

I just bought in a elm327 and a vcm 3 is on order for my own vans issues.

Better starting a new thread some time as helps when searching for issues too.
I'd guess it's just the pump that'd need virginising and recoding to the pcm on a mk6 but I've not had a lot to do with them . Some of the others may know better.
