Fault code P062B:16-14

Postby martinh1988 » Sat May 12, 2018 7:49 pm

Help needed please guys!

2007 MK7 2.4 tdci 100bhp

Bit of history, had my van about 2 years and I’ve always thought it’s a little underpowered, recently decided to have the injectors tested by a very well respected and trusted local diesel engineer, all 4 injectors failed he suspected due to contamination either water or possibly sediment.

Anyway but the bullet and got 4 reconditioned injectors through him, removed fuel tank as he suggested and drained checked for cleanliness, put a new genuine filter on, blew fuel lines through, have cleaned the bores and seats for injectors and new copper washers.

I cannot code the injectors, the numbers for example off one of the injectors is:
F0001324
OA321E2
O4K50512
Clearly a 24 digit code when a 16 digit code is required and entering the first 16 digits comes up as an error.

The van runs but I am unable to carry out the pilot learning procedure as it keeps throwing code P062B:16-14 along with the water in fuel code but I’m aware that’s false as my van doesn’t have that facility.

Is anyone able to shed any light before I take it to him on Monday?!

Thanks

The injector codes are comprised of the numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F

I think you've missed a character in the second line.

But that's not really important.

You reconditioned injectors are only worth coding to the van if the reconditioner supplied new codes derived from a test rig.
Did you get a test report for each injector with new codes on it ?

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

if you never got new codes with the injectors then don't program them in, just carry out the pump and pilot learn, NOT the best way but you get what you pay for mate

It will do the pump learn but won’t do the pilot learn as it says that required fuel rail pressure has not been reached, it had a new pressure relief valve and metering solenoid about 12 months ago so not sure if that’s possibly pointing to a fuel pump problem?

It wasn’t actually from ford but was a Denso item and definitely wasn’t a cheap Chinese effort!

That thread basically says to check/replace prv if required but not how to check?

Also says that the injector control fault is only logged if temporary learning has been carried out but mine has done both temporary and permanent?!

its simple how to check these component's

take the fuel pressure relief valve out and if it looks like this then they both need changing

Bit of an update on this!

Van has just been into ford and had a pcm update as I was unable to carry out the pilot learn procedure, the PCM update has now been carried out but pilot learn cannot be done due to fluctuating fuel rail pressure, I have been told that the pressure relief valve has had it and that the metering solenoid or SCV on the back of the pump should be changed.
I removed the PRV about a week ago and it is still in one piece but does let a little diesel past when you unplug the leak off pipe when cranking/running.

I explained that both these items had been replaced but they reckon that because I didn’t have a pcm update carried out at the time that I should change both items, their quote was “around £500” so clearly it’s not going to be done by them!!

Am I right I’m thinking that because I now have the latest software update that I can change the PRV and SCV and just have to carry out the fuel pump learn and pilot injector learn and not have to have another pcm update?

Finally does anyone have the ford part numbers for these 2 items and a reputable place to source them from as to be honest I’ve had a gut full of my 2 local ford dealers lately and don’t want any more involvement with them if I can help it but in the same breath I don’t want to end up with Chinese knock offs that are going to give me grief!!!

Thanks
Martin

The prv is finis code 1497165
The scv is finis code 1514885

Can't say where a good source to buy is as even ford have been sold counterfeit parts.

Try TPUK or PF Jones

Brilliant. Thanks mate. Will have a search around as I haven’t had great experiences with the quality of parts from TPUK! Customer service was always good but have received some real sh*t from them!!
