MK7 rear seat needed

Postby Hovervan » Thu May 17, 2018 10:14 am

Hello guys,

as we are expecting our first child in november, I really need to retrofit a rear seat. Should be right behind the side door so we can leave our camping bed in the rear

I looked under my flooring wood and under the van, but there are just no threads visible. This &"%§&§$%$ Microcat didn't helped me out either, couldnt find anything there.

Is there anyway to retrofit the threads with genuine ford parts (german MOT is very pissed when looking at DIY welded thread plates.

greetings,
Andy

Good evening. What I did was bought spreader plates and rails and fit them in myself. Then took them to TUV Nord near Hannover and got them inspected. They updated my logbook and all was good. Actually it may have been in Hamelin either way they were happy. The rails were bought second hand on eBay as were the seats and mounts. All in it cost me about £150. If you are on the BFG system (ie a soldier based in Germany) it is even easier.

Also the rails you need are unwin rails. They are German Tüv compliant. As long as you use 10.8bolts and spreader plates you should be ok. The bolts shouldn't hit and brake lines or fuel tank ets.
