Ford transit mk6 2.4 2002 burnt out wire to fuse box

Postby Dean Cohen » Tue Jun 05, 2018 10:37 am

Hi all . I’ve gone out to my bus today and gone to start it up . It started an normal but noticed some smoke come from under the bonnet . On inspection I found that one of the wires coming from the jumpstart point has burnt out . It’s the small cable that comes after the jump start point and goes into the fuse box. If I’m correct the cable is for the glow plug system but not shore . Can any one tell me why it has burnt out and what I should do to fix it.my bus is a ford transit 2.4 mk6 2002 RWD. SEE PIC

It is the fuse link wire to the glowplugs.

If your van starts OK without it then leave it as it is, or tape up the ends to the loom to tidy it up

To repair correctly, you'll need to replace one (or more) glow plugs, which will be short circuited, and replace the link wire, but bear in mind that they have been known to snap off in the head :!:

That's very rare to have a 2002 van and the glow plug fuse link has lasted so long, I have never seen a mk6 with that wire intact. N
