Losing power. Ignition off/on and it's ok

Postby Bazzo » Fri Jun 08, 2018 11:47 am

OK,. So fixed the water pump thanks to you guys..
Now onto a long standing issue.
This can happen after 5min, or not for an hour... Driving along, mainly on motorways, but can be at slower speeds, seems to be when engine under load like towing or going up hill...

Glow plug light flashes... Power drops to about 30%.. Quick ign iff/on and it clears... Carries on as normal.... May happen again in next 30sec, or may carry on for 30min...
Tried injector cleaner.. Sort of helped but problem is returning...

Am.i right in thinking it's an injector issue? .

Sorry sorry sorry.......

And sorry for the long time in responding .. ive been away.

OK, so its a 2005 transit 2.0 tdci

Did a trip yesterday and the fault is back with a vengeance...

so, after a while.. 5min-1hr of driving.. you feel a slight loss of power, this is followed after about 5sec with glow plug light coming on, which coincides with an even greater loss of power, down to about 30%.. a quick reset of ignition and all back to normal again, maybe for only 30sec, maybe for 15min...

Ive read codes with my own code reader which is a fairly decent one, although not a snap on one or any expensive ones... shows nothing...

I was thinking of trying to read the codes while driving it and the fault is live?

IDS or Forscan are the best for code reading/diagnostic work. If there is a fault stored it will not go away and will be kept in memory untill the fault is corrected and erased.
