Need a new turbo on my 57 2.2. Ebay ones any good?

Hi,

My ex-AA SWB 57 plate van decided to let one of the turbo fins go a different way to the others on my way up the M6 on Friday night, so I need a new turbo. I'm not keen on paying huge sums for a new genuine turbo, but I'm equally not keen on getting one from a scrapper of unknown provenance. From a quick search on eBay, I'm seeing what I presume are copies of the original part for around £170-190, which seems reasonable. Are these any good? Does anyone have experience of running one of these long term? What would you all advise?

I would assume there are good and bad on ebay I have never bought a complete turbo only a turbo core and not for a Transit it was for a sprinter as to if it was any good yes was the answer, it came with guarantees bought from a uk seller who makes race turbos. It came with the paperwork telling me how well balanced it was.

Go for a remanufactured turbo from a well know supplier. Check out midland turbos or London Turbo.

ive used a few from tpuk and been fine and also used uk turbo ones as well off ebay never had a problem with them either

only get refurbs, never unchecked secondhands.

We have not had a single problem with them. We have been using the same Turbo supplier for years.

They come with the gaskets and primer as well
