MK6 Key Cloning

Postby Kriegar » Wed Jun 13, 2018 11:44 am

So I only received 1 key with my MK6 Transit and was quoted £60 by timpsons to clone the existing key... This seems like a lot considering you can get cut keys on ebay for £12, surely it's not that costly to simply clone a transponder?

I have emailed a couple of locksmiths but have been completely blanked!. Ill have to do a bit more shopping around I suppose.

Does anyone know roughly how much it should cost and do you have any recommendations on where to go for it?

Its a fair price. New key is 15, cutting, cost of blank transponder+ programming. 50 does not seem exessive. Getting one from the stealership is tripe the price.

Blank transponders are like £1 a pop and thats if you arent buying them in bulk. Id have assumed that it's just a case of 30 seconds worth of work to clone them via a machine too?

I don't see where the extra cost goes.

But if thats what it costs then I suppose thats what Ill have to pay!

£60 every 5 minutes is going to keep plenty lights on!

Should become a show man and travel doing the gala days , guy makes £180 a minute and it’s not uncommon to have 75k cash a night on a weekend that’s one show which is worth around 1.5M new , easy 250k on a good weekend
