Vin and type incorrect

Postby greet » Thu Jun 14, 2018 10:20 am

When I enter my VIN code WF0LXXGBFLYE..... I get info on a Fiesta, while it is a Transit. After the VIN I read "(01)"; what is that. Somebody can help? Is this a (MK5 or) MK6? what serie?

Does the vin plate on the van match the number on the chassis and the one in your log book?

The chassis number breaks down as follows

WF0 - world manufacturer designator, in this case Ford AG
L - model variant, in this case a rwd van
XX - unused constant, it will always be XX
G - production source, in this case ford germany
B - factory, this time Genk
F - model, a transit
L - model variant repeated
Y - year of manufacture, this is 2000
E - month of manufacture, August
5 numerals, because no one expect to make more than 99999 vehicles a month

I think Etis is confused. :?

Edit: forgot to add this confirms you have a mk6, if you had a mk5 the model code is V

Edit 2: Etis is confused !!
2000 model fiesta data says model code for fiesta is J
mk5 transit data says model code for transit is V and fiesta is L
mk6 transit data says model code for transit is L, no mention of Fiesta

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

mk6.

Vin should be in 3 places (may be more I don't know of)
One visible through windscreen.
Label on door pillar, uk spec rhd have it on passenger door pillar.
in one front wheel arch on panel above chassis leg.

The mk5 has the vin plate on the step rather than the door pillar.

the pillar/step vim plate carries lots of additional info about vehicle mass, carriage weights, emissions specs, engine spec, paint colour, interior trim.
Nothing I have explains the "(01)".

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
