Mk7 Windscreen Pillar Trim

Postby Rubz » Tue Jun 19, 2018 2:35 pm

Afternoon all,

My drivers side windscreen pillar trim came off yesterday, was able to hold onto it till I could safely stop.

I can get replacement clips to re-attach it on, but Ford could not tell me how may long and short clips I needed.

Would anyone know how many I need and what order do they go on to the trim for re fitting back on?

Many Thanks,

Euan

Tiger seal it on, with tiger seal filling the hole at the top.

Its the best idea in the long run.

Don’t know how may you need, but those clips are defiantly single use only, the trims only really fly off when the windscreen guys have been to cheap to replace them after a screen change.

Reviving an old topic here. Just had to replace my clips as one trim was blowing in the wind. Phoned Ford and they quoted me £5.17 each, bearing in mind you need 4 each side, two black and two white, 8 altogether I thought that was a rip off as they are use only once clips. So good old E-Bay, I bought these.

Straight swop for old and a swift bang on the trim and it is now solid. All for £2.95 inc free postage. Bargain, going to buy another set just in case.

I hope you dont mind me reviving this post. I am about to buy new clips for MK7 pillar trim and as been mentioned there are shallow white clips and longer pointed black clips, which positions do they fit as I guess you have to fit them in the right places to make sure the trim stays put. I dont want to bond the trim on if I can help it.

Thanks

Has anyone managed to get these trim off without breaking the clips?

Highly unlikely...99% of the time they just snap.....easy enough to buy new though. Be sure to put some sealant on the new clips when refitting or the rain will find it's way in and your floor mat underlay will get wet.

Ah I didn't fit it properly when I put it back on so I'll be getting another set of clips then

I'll remember the sealant this time as well as putting it in bottom first
