In no way am I interested in getting into a bun fight but you are retaliating to what seams a flippant jibe at your opening statement!
Your not really helping yourself by putting up one question without quantifying your reason for asking and directing the kind of answer your looking for.
Ask a silly question get a silly answer

In your statement there s no mention of what you actualy wanted to know.
Someone just answered your question. Maybe elaborated too much in his musings and could of tried to make it more obviously humorous.
An equally sarcastic simple retort would of been all that was required rather that getting so affronted by it all.

Just an observation not an attack on anyone's character what so ever insinuated or implied.

Airthies, there is a simple question in the post I have written.

‘Does anybody run there mk6 RWD without the viscous fan fitted?’ Is a question NOT a statement.

A statement is a clear expression of something and would not end with the question mark symbol.

Nope .....

Is that better ???

IF your viscous unit is in good working order, you are unlikely to see any noticeable gains in either power OR efficiency.
As for electric fans ...I've never found a deal of benefit ...
Modern manufacturers mainly fit them as it's difficult to fit a mechanical fan when the rad is at the front and the engine is transverse.

Maybe you could find some free wheeling hubs to fit ...they make a HUGE difference on landrovers apparently :) (I've put a smiley to make sure that this bit is taken as humerous)

The only place place you will need it is pulling hard on a big hill on when you come up to the big smoke to do the Christmas shopping  You could always install one in front of your computer sereen to stop the overheating

Thank you scas, that is the pure and simple answer and response I was looking for.

It’s amazing how some people on this forum make new people welcome.

mistericeman, you still seem clueless with you idiotic comments, what would be the purpose in putting free wheeling hubs on a duel purpose vehicle?

Ooooohhhh name calling now....

Not much point putting FWH on anything to be honest.... I was just using it as an example of pointlessness same as removing the fan...
As I posted above the viscous unit in good order shouldn't be turning the fan much at all (unless the temp is particularly high)

Only real advantage to leccy fan would be if you're intending wading deep water so water doesn't get thrown everywhere....

Anyway you crack on chap...
You are obviously convinced to take it off,and far be it from me to stop you.

mistericeman, more sarcasm and less intelligence. I would expect anything less from someone who is not mechanically minded

Please do not place any further comments on any threads that I have written as you opinion is not welcome.

I'm seeing that as a challenge now....

Course I have no idea of how to be mechanically minded....

How do I fit a Lt77 and 200tdi into a 2a 88"
Or a 300tdi into a 2a Stawag
Or rebuild a s3 24v FFR after being stood for 8 years
Or weld up the sills/change the gearbox in my Jumbo....

Etc etc.

Maybe a quick play with the search function would of given you some answers without so much angst?

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=186919

Now the electrical side of the Mk7 is quite different to the Mk6 but the 2.4 is physically pretty similar between the two.
But it depends how pedantic you want to be?
