It’s more than likely got a bit of tape over the light to hide a fault!

It can’t be switched off/on

I had the instrument pannel out, I don't think there's any access to the led's/bulbs by the looks of the pannel case. I have found no cut wires. On other Ford vehicles there is a process by which the warning light/chime can be turned on /off, such as, close doors, turn on ignition without starting engine, wait 60 secs, buckle and unbuckle seat belt 9 times within 50 secs etc

Mk7 doesn't have seatbelt warning from what I remember ?
Custom was first to get that I believe

Well! I've done it! A couple of weeks ago I took the (faulty) seat belt out, and took pictures so that Iknew what I was looking for (s/h belt) and that fixed the fault, (must have been a dodgy connection at the plug) although I did'nt know the fault was fixed at that time.
Today I had the instrument pannel out and opened it up, lifted up the flexible clock face and found a lump of blutac in the led skt, poked it out, put it all back, now it all works as it should. I also noticed a bit of skrewed up paper, lodged in the disc pad wear warning light socket. The front pads are good and I've just renewed the rear pads, but the rear pad warning switch cable plug needs some attention, that'll do for another day.
Thanks to those who offered advice.

Frag
The warning light in question shows a bloke sitting viewed from side, with a seat belt accross his chest and a beach ball on his lap.

Airbag light.

The seatbelt pretentioner is link into the same system as it works in conjunction with the airbag.
