Road Tax.

Postby twin--turbo » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:59 pm

ETIS says my van is "emissions stage 4"

56/57 2.4 100.

I thought this was euro4 so would be £140 tax, but it was £250 which i dont really understand?

Only a magic few had the cheap tax, early mk7

After that it was some kind of complication with the way they got registered by ford that lead to them all being the same.

If it makes you feel any better my new Euro6 trafic is still £250 :?

My insurance for the Mk7 is £190, £60 cheaper than the road tax

Even my little 2004 1.4TDCi Fiesta van is £250, so commercial vehicle road tax is just ridiculous :?

Was this a government insensitive thing to try to get more Euro 4 vans on the road and did they not do the same for a short period with euro 5 .
On the subject of road tax this 460 bus I have converted into a camper and logbooked as a camper is in taxation class of private Hgv and is still £160

I searched for ages before thinking of buying and could not find a definitive guide.

Same as the insurance £253, which for a first policy with no NCD to apply to it was fairly good ;)

Yes, I know it's called VED, but everyone and his dog calls it road tax, so I just go along with the plot, it's easier than swimming against the tide.

Try telling people that they don't have a battery in their vehicle, a battery being a primary cell that creates electricity, but it's actually an accumulator, a secondary cell that stores electricity  :P

I thought a battery was actually a reference to multiple components incorporated inside. In our vans batteries case 6x2v(ish) cells. :-)

Could I convert my van into a camper and get top speed limits and cheap tax?? :P
