Which rear view mirror?

Postby Backbone of Britain » Sun Jul 08, 2018 1:06 pm

Hi Guys
I am turning my transit into a motorhome and have installed the side and rear windows, I now want to fit the rear view mirror. I have rain sensors and auto wipers fitted which rear view mirror will fit onto the sensor? Will an auto dimming one from a mk2 focus fit as I have seen one on eBay. If not what will fit?
Cheers
Duncan

Do you have the big black plastic triangle cover thing on the rain sensor? It has a nipple shape thing and you remove the screw from the mirror and then screw the mirror onto the nipple thing on the cover. Mirror is about 30 pounds from Ford or you might try the breakers. The nipple thing is the knuckle that the mirror can swivel on. It clips down into the metal mirror base on the screen.

You'll see once you remove the cover bit.

If you want to fit the focus or another 1 which has auto dim then it needs to be the same fitment the 1 in your photo looks different?

Hi loot
Yes I have the big plastic triangle cover over the rain sensor. I would like to fit the auto dimming mirror. Do you know which one would fit there’s loads on eBay some from focus’ and some from mondeo’s and some from other fords. Are they not all the same??

I don't know, the fitments are usually different but if the mirror splits from the knuckle and that part is the same then you're in.

I bought my mk7 mirror which had a sticky pad figment I think and I removed a Phillips screw then I screwed the mirror to the triangle plastic bit.

I'm waffling a bit but when you know how it fits it becomes very obvious.

I'll have a look :-)

I think you'll need to modify it to fit only 1 screw anyway so why not :-)

Presumably you just add power to it to power the ldr circuit for dimming yes? 8)

From memory? You want a mk2 focus mirror that had auto lights/wiper.

It should clip on to the transit windscreen mount.
