Reverse gear won't select via shaft but will manually

Hi,

I've just replaced one of my gear cables as it sheared off late last week leaving me with two gears to drive home with.

Now though, I can select all gears via the shaft except Reverse. However, I can manually put it in reverse via the engine bay.

Ive been searching for an answer and can rule out blockages in reverse gear selection gap due to sheared off bolts (because I can do manually), issues with missing gear teeth (again, because I can do it manually).

So any ideas anyone?
