Forscan illuminated my airbag light.

Postby shepps52 » Fri Jul 13, 2018 9:05 am

Morning all,

New to this forum so be gentle :)

I have done a bit of searching around as I didn't want to ask questions that had already been asked.

Anyway, here's the issue.

Got my Forscan interface, everything works great. Being the person I am, thought I'd have a nose around see what things it can do and so on. (as I need to fit a new BCM at some point, that's a different story!) All was going well until I nosed into the RCM of the programming page.

I went to load, got to 5% then said the connection was interrupted. Because of that it's caused my airbag light to flash like it's having it own strobe party! I have error codes relating to the module error, and passenger airbag resistance, and passenger airbag pretensioner. Thing is, my van doesn't have any passenger airbags. Codes wont clear with Forscan, my Snapon or Autocom. Thought I'd just disconnect the battery for a while to see if that would sort itself out to no avail.

I'm completely lost as to what next. Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

I'd go to the Forscan Forum and ask the question there.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

It’s sound like the Rcm has been reconfigured to think it has a passenger airbag.

It can be reconfigured with ids, but unsure about forscan.

Mk7 rcm AD can't be reconfigured AE can.
That's based on me doing 1 of each Lol.
Ids vcm2 was what I used.
No idea with forscan but if you read the fault codes it should bring up passenger airbag circuit and passenger seat belt circuit.

Alternatively buy an rcm from a single airbag mk7 and fit it then leave it alone!
