Pump Learn fail

Postby andyholli » Sun Jul 15, 2018 1:19 pm

Good afternoon gentlemen, a little help please -

Each time the learn reaches 46% I get this message:
[13:09:17.026] Suspect an intermittent fault: - Engine Temperature Input - Short to VBATT.

I've taken the temp sender out and cleaned it, wiring at the plug looks fine but I haven't gone as far as a continuity check back to the PCM as it just seems a bit unlikely.

New Denso PRV and SCV fitted, Loot did a leak down test with me and it seemed okay, van runs okay, idles okay, doesn't stall but feels down on power now. - Its a 2007 FWD 110.

Any suggestions for what to do next are appreciated.

Yep - Hi Loot.
We thought the injectors looked to be in spec but the ebay valves were suspect and those I've now replaced with real ones. - Which was when I got this abort part way through the pump learn.

Ah no reason it shouldn't work.
You're welcome to stick it on my ids though if need be.
Maybe double check the valves are fitted and the seals etc are sealed and try again, maybe clean the map sensor and confirm engine temps are in range. Not sure what checks forscan does.

I used to get similar issues in summer with my Mk7 140. What happened was the fuel temp would exceed the limit during the procedure and it would fail.
I ended up running my garden hose over the fuel rail to help keep the fuel temp down...no probs since.

The Mk6 & Mk7 transit doesn't have a coolant temp, it measures cyl head temp, (CHT). Fuel temp on the Mk7 is actually measured at the pump, not the fuel rail, but it's easier to run the garden hose over the rail, a lot of the fuel in the rail is recirculated so the fuel temp can be somewhat controlled by the garden hose. In the winter it's actually more difficult to keep the temps high enough.
