Or is this smashed up plug more likely to be the culprit. Cant really start hammering the door out at 11pm to try and see if it will go back in. I hope it will so I can at least save myself the crawling routine until I can get a new door

Yep think your onto something there

Yea if door opens and shuts manually my guess is that its something to do with that plug or that the pins and contact plate are out of line between the door and the pillar after it got bashed.

next question, are mk6 and mk7 sliding doors the same? Been offered a mk6 door but when watching a youtube video on how to open the door, the mk6 locking mechanism looked totally different to what is on my van

The door colours will be different mk6 diamond white and mk7 frozen white. The door will fit but I can post pictures of my mk6 door for reference

Here's some pictures but I don't think it's worth getting a mk6 door as getting it painted would then bump the price up

If it was mine I could live with the different shade of white I’ve had many vehicles wit different shades of colour even after a paint job
