No oil pressure light on dash 2.0 Diesel

Postby JesterRB » Tue Jul 17, 2018 7:52 pm

Hello All!!

I ve owned transit 4 years and it’s been fantastic, but noticed the other day the oil pressure light on the dash has stopped working? I’ve shorted out, nothing, there 5volts to the pressure switch. I’ve taken the dash out but seems like you can’t replace the filaments. The 3ngine runs good oil pressure when i checked with an external gauge. Anyone else had an issue or could point me in the direction of a good wiring diagram?

Cheers!

mk6 or mk7 ?
What year ?
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Check the engine loom where it joins the engine compartment loom at the fuse box for power .I very much doubt it will be the led .

try your solder joints on the back of dash board sooner or later you will loose all the clocks all the gages and its all down to solder joints onj the back of the dash board

After a morning of stripping out the dash and checking resistances and voltages the conclusion is the wiring is damaged somewhere in the engine bay. So I've wired in a separate light on the dash using ignition live and the original pressure switch as Earth. Works well!

Does the oil pressure switch wiring join the pump loom and travel over/behind the starter motor? If so that'll be where the fault is, in the wiring loom around the starter. N
