Need help fuel pressure

Postby Matt246801 » Thu Jul 19, 2018 2:36 pm

Hi guys iv got an 07 mk7 2.2 110 and I’m getting fault code p0089 fuel pressure, Prv and scv and fuel pressure sensor have all been replaced with Denso items and also tested the injectors and one was knackered so I replaced it also on top of that iv replaced the fuel filter housing as I was seeing large bubbles in the fuel line, but fault code is still there and fuel pressure is fluctuating on live data, their is still small bubbles in the fuel inlet line? Is it normal to have smallish bubbles passing every so often? Only thing I can think of is either problem with one of the new valves or possibly fuel pump or even those small air bubbles causing problems? Anybody got any advice where to go next? Was thinking about possibly bypassing the tank to see if the bubbles stop at all?

eBay TPUK but they are Denso? Used the exact same ones on my previous transit and they were ok but still have that thought in the back of my mind could be something up with them :/

If they were dead cheap then possibly not genuine.

Did you do the fuel pump learn and pilot learn? Was the prv blown? Did you reset both counters?

It is very easy to split the little green o-rings on the leak off connections to the injectors, then you get air leaking in.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

This was them
http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayIS ... spheader=1

The guy that did the coding/relearn ect I think said that he couldn’t complete the relearn or pilot as it wouldn’t let him because of the pressure fluctuating not 100 percent sure on that, it was the proper ford computer

TPUK said they would replace the valve if it’s faulty but don’t know, like you say they could bhi cheap rubbish? :(

Is there any way of testing the valves or which one would cause the fluctuation? The scv?

Il double check the leak off pipes too would that cause a problem with fuel pressure though?

Thanks for the help guys appreciate it, iv spent enough on this van :?

my money is on the fuel rail pressure valve they have a very small hole in them " fake ", also compare the holes in the scv if its to big then its a "fake"

i only use these valve from pfjones

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/294009-0260-f ... -0260.html

and prv from ford

Oh right, I bought the two valves and the sensor since the price was good but obviously the reason it was cheap is that they’re crap  I need the fpv because it’s broken and probably best to get the scv since it’s not genuine? So the sensor at the beginning of the fuel rail should be alright?

Tbh I've never needed to replace the fuel rail pressure sensor, just the prv and scv.

That scv karl showed looks good and at that price you could buy maybe 3 for the price at Ford
Prv wants to be best quality genuine/Ford. They have a bleed off with venturi and I bet the cheap ones don't have the correct spring tension or they have different dimensions so they just don't keep the rail pressure. Scv can't regulate fuel pressure reliably.

What the other lads have said....a faulty SCV causes the fuel pressure fluctuations and often takes the PRV with it, the PRV is there to protect help the system...we're talking the best part of 30,000psi so the parts need to be good quality.
The learns will often fail because the valves aren't up to snuff. The pressure sensor itself rarely fails.

Many of us have been there and done that.....buy cheap...buy twice.
