changing clocks - vcm/ids procedure

Postby tibsy » Fri Jul 20, 2018 7:05 pm

Have a set of clocks to change( my vehicle -clocks identical),-What is the procedure within IDS ?
Assume once clocks installed -then hook up VCM- then what? will it automatically detect replacement clocks and then guide you through set up? :?:

If your changing same for same they are plug and play . They do hold the back up for the van configuration but if the donar veg was the same spec you will be OK. Your only problem will be the miles/ km on the clock this can be changed with IDS provided that the mileage on your new clocks is lower you can only put the mileage up it cannot be rolled back

Ok, that`s good . For some reason i thought i read somewhere(on here) that each set had it`s own identity so had to be programed
to bcm.Cheers.

Just thought -clocks appear identical but don`t know if van was same spec!?

If your not worried about the milage being exactly the same provided that it's similar and not thousands out there's no need to programme them unless your going from level 1 (standard) to level 2 ( trip comp, outside temp etc)

Just thought,- what if it turns out that clocks are lower mileage? Will BCM have a "hissy fit"?

My upgraded clocks worked as soon as they were plugged in, no hissy fit from the BCM. I seem to remember that the outside air temp didn't work until the BCM was upgraded and matched in though. I had the mileage corrected at the same time :)
