Do fuel tank connections need removing to lower tank?

Postby willburt » Sat Jul 21, 2018 1:42 pm

I've a 2011 280 85 MWB transit and am looking to fit some tourneo seats. The bolts for the seat attachments will need fitting directly above the tank. I'd like to drop the fuel tank enough to get my hand underneath to fit the nuts. Does anyone know if I can do this without disconnecting the various bits connected to the tank?

Thanks

They didn't on my custom fwd, be more or less the same, you just want to get your hand in, I undid the passenger side which has the main plumbing on but I expect that the drivers side will give you more.
Best to use most of the fuel up first :-)

There’s enough slack to lower it a good bit, we fitted a heater feed into a tank at transitmania and never disconnected anything. Just lowered it on one side.

Take the filler cap off or you might have to look for it in the next village

Filler hose off and overflow hose (I think) off then it will reach to the ground with everything else connected I think. They come off easy. The main fuel lines don't need to come off. Its 100x easier if you do it with it empty!
