2.4tdci oil cooler

Postby Wigiz » Sun Jul 22, 2018 12:02 am

Hi, after a bit of advice please, noticed yesterday morning a patch on the tarmac underneath the van, had a look underneath and found a drip coming from the oil cooler thermosta, wiped it off with a rag and started the van, drip came back so ordered another stat from ford, had to nip out this morning to pick something up and when I got back to the yard had a look under van to see if it had got worse and to my disbelief where the leak had been coming from off the cooler thermostat housing it was bone dry, no leak nothing, Carnt even tell it’s been leaking, hows the van fixed itself anyone have a idea, cheers Wigiz

Remove it and put a smear of silicone on it and refit and the job will be oxo :)
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT

Ok will try that thanks, any idea why it would leak then stop in the first place?
Just a quick update
Checked again and it's leaking again, looks to be when it's stood and engines cold, already ordered a part off ford for it, will fit that and see how it goes, thanks for the reply.

Probably just the o-ring seals when it is warm but when cold it shrinks and leaks.....just replace the o-ring and you should be good to go.
