I don't want you spending money on a pump then to be told its injectors as its an expensive guessing game £450 for the pump and £120 each for reman injectors or £160 each new plus labour.
When my injectors fooked up the van wouldn't start, it only ran on easy start until it burnt the go juice then it would stall, if you have fuel at the injectors then the pump is supplying the fuel, even if the fuel rail pressure is lower then expected it should still start eventually.
I feel your pain as I have been there, as soon as I fitted 4 new injectors and coded them in my van started first turn of the key.
Also DONT crack open the injectors when cranking the fuel system is a high pressure system so no only will it reduce fuel pressure but could cause you harm, the tdci will purge air out itself once running.
Personally I would plug the elm327 in and get some live data, the forscan program is very good and you can look at what each injector is doing on cranking.
As you say all was fine before you changed the IMV so 1, check the wiring to the IMV, 2, try putting the old one back in and see what happens, just a few idea before you part with fists full of cash. N
