Do all MK7's come with remote central locking receiver?

Postby RedKid » Sat Aug 11, 2018 6:02 pm

Hi,

I've got a mk7 that only has standard keys. I want to buy a remote fob and from reading I understand the immobiliser will need to be programmed at the same time. Before I go trying to get that done though I'm trying to figure out if my van actually has the receiver. Do they all come as standard?

I've checked the fuse box and I've got the f74 fuse, but I'm bound to have for the central locking regardless, right?

I've tried getting the van into programming mode by switching the key from position 0-II 8 times but I can't get it to beep or the door locks the cycle. I think I'm doing it right.. start at 0, switch to II, 8 times in 20 seconds, and finish in position II?

They probably don't all come with it, there's no programming mode it has to be done with diagnostics such as ids or forscan.

You can do an etis check to see if it came with remote keyless entry (I think?) But a quicker check is remove the front interior lamp and look above it for the black receiver velcro stuck to the roof.
That's a start. :-)

Thanks loot.

Removed the interior lamp in the cab and there's nothing immediately above it. Guess there's no receiver.

How easy are they to retrofit?

The 8 X ignition cycle you mentioned is for the mk6 not the mk7  N

How many keyholes does it have?

Drivers door only means it will have a receiver

Keyholes in all doors will mean no receiver

Ahh the simplicity in the suggestion, ake!

Only drivers door has a keyhole. Maybe the receiver is somewhere else and not above the interior light...

It may have fallen off, it's only held on with velcro.
