Starter Motor Type

Postby panelvan08 » Mon Aug 13, 2018 10:22 am

Hi,

I bought this starter motor for my 2008 85hp FWD van, but it doesn't fit owing to a different bell housing mounting - does anyone know what it's for? it has a step where it joins the bellhousing, suggesting a bigger flywheel whereas my van's got a simple flat mounting type. My dads 2.4 RWD van is the same as mine - so guessing the later euro 5 vans are different?

Many Thanks

I'm not going to say anything definitive, but this site is selling this very same model number for a 2014 2.2 which means it is for a EURO 5.

No idea which starter you need... do you not have the old one to compare?

Also are you saying your Dad's RWD and your FWD have the same starter? That seems odd? That doesn't seem right, anyone? I might be completely wrong.

Mk7 FWD and RWD use the same starter....Pn: 1709189 for 2008 onwards, even the 3.2 5-pot uses the same one.

Early Mk7 2006-2008 uses Pn:1449615...but I think this may have been superseded by Pn:1709189.
