Timing chain

Postby tilly » Mon Aug 13, 2018 9:24 pm

Had my van from new, and its now upto 222000 miles now. Barely run in some would say..

I take it I'm going to have to look at a chain replacement at this mileage ?

If it's been well looked after and doesn't rattle then likely be fine for a good while.

How much of a ball ache is it to replace ? I've got all the tools, and ability, but never tackled a chain on a transit before.

I see Im going to need a new timing cover, and sealant. Some threads mention the cam seal. Is that worth doing at the same time ?

Everything rattles on this crate, and I'm currently doing regular 400 mile round trip runs, so not exactly treating the old girl with respect at the moment. I need a new van, but funds dont allow it, so its a make do and mend job..

And its a FWD..
